Keemun Black Tea
When people think of Chinese black tea, they think Keemun Black Tea. It is a superior variety of black tea produced in Qimen with a history of over 130 years. Qimen is a mountainous country in China’s Anhui province, and was named "Keemun" during the colonial era. Today, many people prefer to call the tea its original name: Qimen black tea. Keemun black tea enjoys a high reputation throughout the world and is hailed as the "Queen of Black Tea", partly because it has always fascinated the Queen of England and royal family there.
The Unique Features of Keemun Black Tea
Keemun black tea field, with an area of approximately 107 sq km, has superior natural conditions with rather high elevation, fertile red and yellow soil, warm climate, plentiful rainfall, and moderate sunshine, very suitable for tea plantation. The processed Keemun black tea has fragrant aroma, embellishing black color and slim shape like thin brow, and turns to be flush and transparently vivid when soaked into boiling water. Keemun smells like honey and orchid, giving the tea a distinctive and balanced taste - the so-called “China Qimen aroma”. This Chinese tea can be added with milk or sugar, but tastes best without adding anything else.
Varieties of Keemun Black Tea
There are four main categories of China Keemun Black Tea, including Keemun Gongfu, Keemun Mao Feng, Keemun Xin Ya and Keemun Hao Ya, with different picking time and processing methods.
Keemun Gongfu is processed with careful skill ("gongfu") to produce thin, tight strips without breaking the leaves.Keemun Mao Feng adopts only slightly twisted leaf buds and is usually with a smoother flavor. Many people like to brew a smaller quantity of this tea for a longer time, maybe up to 7 minutes, for a more interesting tone.
Keemun Xin Ya is the early bud variety, with less bitterness. While Keemun Hao Ya is the refined bud, and generally known as the highest grade.

How to Brew Keemun Black Tea in China
1. Prepare the tea set. Purple clay or white porcelain Chinese tea set produced in Jingdezhen is the best choice.
2. Boil the purified or spring water to 90-95 ºC (194-203℉).
3. Add 1-2 teaspoons of tea leaves to 8 ounces boiling water. And wait for 1 to 3 minutes.
4. Pour the tea into the drinking cup, then you can enjoy the tea with rich aroma.
