Make your way to Pingyao by high speed rail. Be met and greeted by your Easy Tour China guide, then transfer with a private vehicle to your hotel.
After a short rest and fresh up, you will be guided to explore Pingyao Ancient Town, which is one of the best preserved ancient towns in China and was listed as Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1997. Pingyao is an outstanding example of city for Chinese Han nationality during the period from Ming to Qing Dynasty (1368-1911), with a history of more than 2,700 years. It owns more than 300 historical relics. Today you will visit the famous sites including the ancient city wall - one of the four best surviving ancient city walls in China, Rishengchang Exchange Shop - China’s early type of bank - that offers glimpse into Shanxi (Jin) merchants' business, and Ming-Qing Street lined with numerous vintage shops and stalls, the yamen government office in feudal China, etc.
After breakfast, drive 45km to visit Qiao Family Compound, which is a masterpiece of traditional civil architecture in North China. It was the residential house of the well-known financier Qiao Zhiyong of Qing Dynasty. First built in the period of Qianlong Emperor of Qing Dynasty, renovated and expanded later, this compound has been turned into a magnificent complex with the unique character of traditional architecture. Afterwards, transfer to visit the Double Forest Temple (also called Shuanglin Temple). Double Forest Temple was originally founded in the 6th century during the Northern Wei period, although the present buildings date to the Ming and Qing dynasties. Reputed to be the "ancient painted sculptures museum", Double Forest Temple houses more than 2,000 colorful sculptures reflecting the exquisite skills of the artisans of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.
