Deqin is a small Tibetan town to the very north of Yunnan and borders of Tibet to the west, Sichuan to the East and Myanmar to the southwest. It is 5 hours’ drive from Zhongdian (Shangri-La). The average altitude of Deqin is 3550m; means there are spectacular mountain scenery along the journey in the region.
The reason for traveling to Deqin is to admire the grand Meili Snow Mountain (Kawakarpo) and enjoy the mystery of Shangri-la. The destination is great place for hiking, if you want deal with the altitude and several days hiking are very rewarding.
